Embrace the Moment (2014) was a phrase that my band director used all the time to describe the time that we as performers should take when we are playing a piece. The opening melody is stated in the saxophones who then hand off the musical line to the upper winds and horn. This continues throughout the piece with no breaks in the sound. As the climax arrives, we have to be aware of how our sound fits into the overall sound of the band and the composer's idea of what we are telling the audience at that moment.
