This piece is the second of a set that I have begun that gives a talented high school student the opportunity to play a contemporary solo piece with Wind Orchestra acoompaniment. A student that is playing at a Grade 8 level in the Royal Conservatory program should be able to play the solo part with the band parts being at a Grade 3 - 3.5 level.

I have known a wonderfully, talented family of young musicians for many years and began talking to one of them a year or so back about having a piece for solo trumpet and high school level wind orchestra. Much of the repertoire that she had access to as a solo performer in high school was either transpcriptions or pieces that are inaccessible to high school wind orchestras either because of level of technical skill from the ensemble or level of abstract ideas in the music itself.
